Matthew Hodgson

I spent two decades performing at the highest level of professional basketball. I played for the Australian national team, had a brief stint with the Dallas Mavericks, and won championships across multiple leagues in multiple countries.

During that time, I became obsessed with understanding what creates high performance; why it worked for some, and why it didn't work for others with the same talent. I formally studied psychology to the postgraduate level. I worked with sports psychologists, mindset coaches, psychotherapists, hypnotherapists, team builders, culture specialists, and even an energetic healer.

What I built was a deep understanding of the difference between people who consistently access their full capability and those who don't. And I discovered the consistent patterns that get in the way.

After my playing days ended, I encountered a lot of high-performing business owners and executives. The more I spoke with them, the more I recognised that they suffered from the same issues as elite athletes. I had realised that human nature doesn't change across arenas, and the solutions to the problems are similar no matter what uniform someone wears.

This was why I founded PPA, and I've been dedicated to helping high-performing people and organisations find what's in the way and remove it, allowing them to access the immense capability that they already have.

“Matthew has a way of making complex issues simple to navigate.”
